After six weeks of competition, Brandon Kee remains the heavy favorite to win season 16 of “Project Runway,” but there’s a surprising shakeup on our predictions leaderboard this week. He’s now being challenged not only by fellow judges’ darling Kenya Freeman, but also Margarita Alvarez.
That’s surprising because Alvarez actually finished with a low score in last week’s design challenge, “Models Off Duty.” In fact, she was one of the bottom two contestants, barely escaping the axe while the judges chose to eliminate Samantha Rei instead in a controversial decision. But that was Alvarez’s first week among the bottom designers after having previously finished with a high score in episode three, “A Leap of Innovation,” and advancing safely through the rest of the competition thus far. Meanwhile, Kee had one of his weakest nights — relative to Kee — by simply advancing and not getting one of the high scores of the evening like he has four times this season — he’s won twice.
As of this writing Kee continues to lead our predictions with odds of 2/3, which translates to a 59% chance of winning. That’s down slightly from last week when he was at an all-time high with 1/2 odds (67% chance of winning). Alvarez moves up into second place this week with 5/1 odds (16% chance of winning), while Freeman dips to third place with 13/2 odds (13% chance of winning).
