‘Project Runway’ season 16 frontrunner: Kenya Freeman widens her lead with 11-to-10 odds

Kenya Freeman is the frontrunner to win “Project Runway” season 16. That’s according to the predictions of our users who have entered their picks at Gold Derby. She has had the lead for the last two weeks, and in fact, she has increased her lead going into tonight’s third episode of the season, “A Leap of Innovation!” As of this writing she gets leading odds of 11/10, which translates to a 48% chance of winning the season. That’s up from last week when she had 3/2 odds, or a 38% chance.

Freeman has been quite consistent in the first two weeks of competition. In the season premiere, “One Size Does Not Fit All,” she was praised for her white mermaid dress and was one of the judges’ top three favorite contestants. Then in episode two, “An Unconventional Recycling,” she took part in the season’s first team challenge and also the first unconventional materials challenge, in which she and her four partners tried to make couture out of items they salvaged from the dump. Her team won the challenge, which once again put her near the top in the judges’ marks. She had yet to win a design challenge, but she may be well on her way.

Do you agree with out predictions? Freeman is up against Brandon Kee, who has also gotten two high scores so far, as well as previous challenge winners Ayana Ife and Deyonte Weather.
