It’s the beginning of the end: Variety has exclusively premiered a new trailer for the third and final season of the twisted Comedy Central series “Review,” which begins March 16 (watch below). The absurd black comedy stars Andy Daly as Forrest MacNeil, a TV personality who answers requests to review a wide variety of life experiences even if it kills him — and it almost has, repeatedly.
“Review” is based on the Australian series “Review with Myles Barlow,” and in it MacNeil has reviewed everything from pancakes to racism to murder. In the second season finale, which aired back in October 2015, he reviewed conspiracy theories and became so paranoid that he ended up throwing himself off a bridge with his sinister producer Grant (James Urbaniak). It may be surprising that he could survive such an event, but to be fair, he’s survived worse.
The trailer features Forrest visiting his put-upon ex-wife Suzanne (Jessica St. Clair), whom he divorced in order to review divorce. She recounts some of his most deranged behavior while the trailer cuts away to some of the show’s rapturous praise from critics, including the New York Times, which says that the show “elevated cringe comedy to poetry,” and GQ Magazine, which calls it “the funniest, bleakest, truest show you’re not watching.”
If you’re not watching “Review,” it’s time to start while you still have the chance. Watch the new trailer below, then discuss this and more in our TV forum.
