After an unexpected Bottom 2 placement in last week’s episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Kimora Blac of Las Vegas is back in the hot seat and predicted with 9/2 racetrack odds to once again lip synch for her life. She’s currently running second in our racetrack odds behind Peppermint of New York City (4/1 odds) and just ahead of Charlie Hides of Boston (13/2 odds). Who do you think will be eliminated next? There’s still time to make your predictions in our weekly event. Keep reading for my analysis of the queens you’re predicting most likely to win and who you think will go home in “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 9, Episode 3, “Draggily Ever After.”
In just two episodes so far, Kimora has emerged as one of the most outspoken queens on the cast. Her talking head commentary to the camera is shady — remember how she took aim at Aja‘s makeup in the premiere? — and so her placement in the bottom in the season’s first elimination came as a shock. By all accounts, Jaymes Mansfield was out of her league in the competition and was destined to go home first, but in my opinion she wiped the stage with Kimora in their lip synch. That Kimora managed to stay is nothing short of good luck so I’m not surprised that confidence in her ability to last much longer has fallen among predictors.
It’s Peppermint though that leads our predictions as the most likely to go home. Unlike Kimora, Peppermint’s impact on the show has been minimal if not entirely forgettable. In fact, Peppermint was our pick for the second most likely to be eliminated last week, so finding her once again in the bottom is no surprise at all.
At the top of the pack our top three remains the same — Aja leads our predictions to win with 3/1 odds, followed once again by Sasha Velour (4/1 odds) and Shea Coulee (9/2 odds). The change in our leaderboard is the rise of Valentina, the queen who proudly acknowledges she’s only been doing drag for 10 months, who comes in fourth place with 15/2 odds.
Valentina was named best of the week after she wowed in the cheerleading performance challenge and romanced the judging panel in a wedding gown inspired by her mother for the “White Party Realness” runway. Will that give her an edge in the upcoming fairy tale inspired episode? Perhaps. The judges seem to love her fishy, sweet princess persona. Be sure to watch this Friday night on VH1 to find out.
