‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ episode 4 recap: Which queen’s morning tea was served piping hot and who proved too cold to care?

Hoping to bounce back from an unexpected trip to the bottom two on last week’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” our season-long odds frontrunner Aja begins this week’s episode “Good Morning Bitches” with her sights set on judges’ favorite Valentina. The new rivalry didn’t stop Aja from choosing Valentina first for her in team in this week’s morning talk show team challenge. Did the two put their beef aside to win together? Read my recap below and then update your predictions in our weekly event to reflect who still remains in the hunt to win.

For this week’s challenge, RuPaul Charles named Aja, winner of last week’s lip synch, and Trinity Taylor, winner of last week’s runway, team captains to lead two morning talk show crews, “Good Morning Bitches” and “Not On Today” each to be performed live. On “Good Morning Bitches,” the standouts were Sasha Velour and Shea Coulee whose DIY demonstration of how to work chocolate bars into your diet brought in the laughs while Aja and Valentina’s jokes during their gossip segment fell flat.

On team “Not On Today,” the DIY anchors once again stole the show– Eureka and Nina Bo’nina Brown killed it giving advice on how to save money on expensive drag products by using food instead. Unfortunately the rest of the team failed, lacking chemistry and missing their cues, specifically the goodbye and cut to commercial at the end of their celebrity interview with guest Naya Rivera.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ winners poll: 47% say Bianca Del Rio is their favorite queen to reign

Following the talk show challenge, the queens switched from day to night for a “Naughty Nighty” runway. This week’s guest judges were Naya Rivera and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman who joined RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Ross Mathews. Predictably, team “Good Morning Bitches” were called safe, with Sasha and Shea taking top honors as the overall winners of the week. That left the six queens of “Not On Today” up for elimination.

When asked who from their team should go home, the queens were split between leader Trinity, Peppermint for her basic runway look and Charlie Hides for her failed news anchor performance. The judges agreed, sending Trinity and Charlie to the stage to lip synch for their lives to Britney Spears‘ “I Wanna Go.” In one of the biggest disappointments of the season, Charlie seemed to have given up in what was a near refusal to perform the lip synch and was sent home. Really, gurl? Bye!
