The queens of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 9 were left reeling after Eureka‘s surprise elimination last week, but low emotions were quickly raised once RuPaul Charles announced that they’d be participating in two “Drag Race” favorites, “Snatch Game” and “Night of 1,000 Madonnas.” Following their low scores last week, were Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Farrah Moan able to recover and dodge elimination again? To find out how it all went down, read my recap of Season 9, Episode 6, titled “Snatch Game,” and then update your predictions in our weekly event to reflect who still remains in the hunt to win.
For this week’s maxi challenge the queens took on the seasonal event “Snatch Game” where they each show their comedic chops by impersonating an iconic celebrity in a mock version of the classic game show “Match Game.” Ru brought in guest judges Candis Cayne and Denis O’Hare to serve as the contestants for the game, neither of whom were impressed by the challenge’s under-performers Peppermint as NeNe Leakes, Cynthia as Sofia Vergara and Farrah as Gigi Gorgeous.
In “Snatch Game,” the name of the game is making Ru laugh so landing a joke is of paramount importance. The most laughs came from Nina Bo’Nina Brown as former contestant Jasmine Masters, Alexis Michelle as Liza Minnelli, Sasha Velour as Marlene Dietrich and Shea Coulee as Naomi Campbell.
After the game the queens prepared for another iconic task, a “Night of 1,000 Madonnas” runway redux after last season’s attempt at it resulted in an abundance of kimono looks from her “Nothing Really Matters” video. Unfortunately this season four queens doubled-up on the same look again — both Peppermint and Shea walked as “Material Girl” Madonna while Trinity Taylor and Nina both took on the same Met Gala look.
Taking both the maxi challenge and the Madonna runway into account, the judges declared Alexis this week’s winner, her first overall win for the season. With her in the Top 3 were Sasha and Nina. Falling on the bottom and paired together to lip synch for their lives to Madonna’s “Music” was Peppermint and Cynthia. Continuing the comedic theme of the week, Peppermint left the judges rolling with laughter with her top notch lip synch, easily earning her spot to stay while Cynthia had to sashay away.
