It was recently confirmed that the fourth season of FX’s “American Crime Story” anthology series would focus on the White House sex scandal involving President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky and that Sarah Paulson would be featured in the cast, and now we have a hint at whom she might be playing. Ryan Murphy revealed on “Watch What Happens Live” that Paulson might play Linda Tripp.
“I’m very interested and have talked to my good bartender friend Sarah Paulson about Linda Tripp,” Murphy said, “so we’ll see if she would agree to do that because I always think of Sarah for everything.” Tripp was a civil servant who secretly recorded Lewinsky’s phone conversations about her relationship with Clinton.
He revealed other possible casting tidbits: “I don’t know who I would want to play [Hillary Clinton]. I think we’re going to cast an unknown as Monica.” But the story won’t necessarily revolve around the Clintons. “I think our take on it is interesting. I don’t even think the Clintons need to be huge parts of that story. It’s about the birth of a specific movement in our country. That’s what we’re interested in. But we’re working on the scripts now, and I think they’re really good.”
