Sam Heughan (‘Outlander’): Caitriona Balfe and I love to ‘go at it with each other’ [WATCH]

Outlander” fans still have a while longer to wait for the sweeping romance to return to Starz. It’s back this September — 14 months after the end of season two last July. So while you wait, travel back through time with the star of the series, Sam Heughan, for a Friday flashback. He sat down with Gold Derby for an in-depth chat about the series in 2016. Watch it below, and check out some of the show’s hottest moments by clicking through the gallery above.

“Myself and Caitriona, we both relish anything that’s quite dramatic, anything where we get to really go at it with each other, really tear chunks out of each other,” said Heughan about working with his on-screen love interest Caitriona Balfe. “The opposite of that is the intimate scenes are always very difficult, just technically difficult.”

Balfe plays Claire Randall, a nurse from the 1940s who is transported back in time to the 18th century, where she falls for Heughan as brave Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. Season two was quite tumultuous for both Claire and Jamie, including the stillbirth of their child and a separation across centuries of time as Claire returned to the 20th century, but at the end of the season Claire vows, “I have to go back.”

Heughan, Balfe, and die-hard “Outlander” fans will all be returning to the Scottish Highlands in just a few months. Until then refresh your memories of the series by watching Heughan below.
