Sara Carson and Hero, the leader of her team of stunt dogs, stole the show on the third live quarterfinal of “America’s Got Talent.” Among the tricks that they performed, the standout was Hero and another dog, Loki, jumping on and off Carson in time to the Bonnie Tyler 80s classic “Holding Out for a Hero.” Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation for the routine that you can watch above.
Hero is a border collie, one of the smartest breed of dogs, and was one of the youngest winners of world championship. At their audition on June 27, Sara and Hero won over Cowell, a devoted dog lover with a routine that saw them pretending to be pirates and play fighting. While Klum was not a fan, Howie Mandel was on the fence until Cowell persuaded him to give the act a yes.
That moved them on to the next round, judges cuts, on July 17. Cowell challenged Sara about how she planned to improve her act. With more props than at the audition, Sara and Hero put on an entertaining show of tricks, jumps, choreography and balancing that finally won over Klum and Mandel.
