‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Don’t hurt yourself, Lex! Frontrunner has a scare during high-flying disco routine [WATCH]

“What’s happened? I know something’s happened,” said “So You Think You Can Dance” judge Nigel Lythgoe following Lex Ishimoto and Koine Iwasaki‘s high-flying disco routine on Monday night’s Top 6 episode. Ishimoto shook it off, explaining, “I just have rotator cuff injuries and ankle injuries, but I’m good — disco!” But host Cat Deeley noted, “I can feel you shaking.” It takes a lot to shake rock-solid frontrunner Ishimoto, but the intense spins, lifts, and tricks of disco certainly pushed him near to his breaking point, including at least one stumble near the end. Watch it above, and let us know if this was the best contestant duet of the night by voting in our poll at the bottom of this post.

“What an incredible, tough routine by Doriana Sanchez — amazing!” said Murphy about the demanding choreography. “Lex, that was so tough, I’m telling you. I know how hard it is on you … Koine, you made it look like a walk in the park. You had a little bobble up there,” but otherwise it was “great.”

Lythgoe added about Sanchez’s choreography, “When the kids see your name and that they’re going to be dancing for you, they get scared stiff” because of how relentless her routines are. “It is non-stop, and you both did it brilliantly” despite the “hiccup” at the end of the routine. And he went one step further by calling Iwasaki “the best performer this season.”

What did you think of the routine? Was it as good as the judges said? Was it too off-balance? Did Ishimoto finally fly too close to the sun on this one? Vote below.
