“That is the beauty of dance. You can touch somebody with movement,” says “So You Think You Can Dance” judge Nigel Lythgoe in a preview for the show’s two-hour season finale episode, which airs Monday night, September 25. Watch the preview above,
This season of “SYTYCD” brought back 10 all-star contestants from previous seasons. Those all-stars mentored groups of contestants before each narrowing down the field to the one dancer who would represent them and duet with them during the live shows. Now we’re down to the final four. Lex Ishimoto has been the frontrunner since the beginning of the live shows, and he’s partnered with season 12 “SYTYCD” champ Gaby Diaz. Koine Iwasaki is teamed up with all-star Marko Germar, who finished third in season eight. Kiki Nyemchek, the only ballroom specialist in the finals, competes with all-star Jenna Johnson, who made the Top 8 in season 10. And Taylor Sieve takes the stage with Robert Roldan, who finished third in season seven.
The finalists performed multiple times in last Monday night’s Top 4 episode: once solo, once with their all-star partners, once as a group, and once with each of their three fellow competitors. Viewer votes following that episode will determine the winner — and the judges don’t get a say as they did in the earlier live rounds. That could be good news for Ishimoto and Sieve, who are the only contestants in the final four who were never in the bottom three based on viewer votes. That’s consistent with our racetrack odds, which rule Ishimoto as the likely winner and Sieve as the likely runner-up. Do you agree? Vote in our poll below to let us know who you think should win.
