“Me naked! We’re in negotiations right now about how much of my butt crack I can show,” teases Stephen Colbert about what surprises we can expect when he hosts the Emmy Awards this weekend. He joined us for an exclusive chat (watch the video above) at Tuesday’s red carpet rollout in front of the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles just days before the live ceremony on CBS for Sunday, September 17.
He is also nominated at the 69th annual event for Best Variety Talk Series and Best Variety Series Writing for “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” He reveals that he was disappointed when former “Daily Show” co-star Samantha Bee beat him this past weekend for Best Variety Special Writing. He says he was happy for her, but, “Come on! You’ve gotta pull for your own team.”
During the special media day on Tuesday, Emmy Awards producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss also announced that television legends Carol Burnett and Norman Lear will be presenting awards. Tony Award nominee Christopher Jackson (“Hamilton”), a current co-star on the CBS legal drama “Bull,” will perform during the “In Memoriam” segment.
Hayma Washington, first-year Television Academy chairman and CEO, also joined us for a short interview. Watch that video below.
