After 94 days, three seasons and two winning crowns, Sandra Diaz-Twine for the first time admitted that she felt vulnerable to being voted out on “Survivor: Game Changers.” Was she able to garner enough votes to turn the tide, or did host Jeff Probst finally get to snuff Sandra’s torch? Read our Season 34, Episode 6 recap below and then update your “Survivor” predictions in our weekly event.
“Vote Early, Vote Often” began with the second switch-up of the season, with the three tribes becoming two. Since there was an odd number, Debbie Wanner, who drew the only handkerchief without a buff inside, wound up going to Exile Island. The new Mana tribe is comprised of Sierra Thomas, Aubry Bracco, Cirie Fields, Brad Culpepper, Michaela Bradshaw, Troyzan Robertson and Hali Ford. Meanwhile, the new Nuku tribe consists of Sandra, Zeke Smith, Jeff Varner, Tai Trang, Ozzy Lusth, Andrea Boehlke and Sarah Lacina.
In seasons past, Exile Island was a place no one wanted to visit as it required the castaway to start a new camp from scratch and live in isolation. However, Debbie’s trip to Exile proved truly advantageous for her, as she wined and dined aboard a yacht with endless supplies of food and comfort. Debbie was also given two other game-changing advantages: an informative visit from Season 26 winner John Cochran and an extra vote to use at a future tribal council. And just like that, Debbie’s game completely shifted for the better.
Mana easily won the immunity challenge by carrying heavy puzzle pieces and then assembling the puzzle, which sent Sandra’s Nuku tribe scrambling back at camp. What should have been an easy vote to eliminate the two-time winner proved to be troublesome when Tai revealed the plan to Varner. That prompted Ozzy and Zeke to wonder if they could trust Tai, who they also believed was a threat because of his penchant for finding hidden immunity idols. By the way, Tai found not one but two additional idols in this episode — one at his old Mana camp and the other at Nuku following the switch.
At tribal council Sandra admitted to Probst that she felt vulnerable for the first time ever, since no one approached her to talk strategy. Sarah stuck her foot in her mouth when she said her alliance considered a few names, which caused Tai to wonder if his name was on the chopping block. In another whisper-fest Tai suggested that perhaps Ozzy should be voted out, but he didn’t have enough numbers to make it happen. In the end, Sandra and Varner voted for Tai, but the other five players all wrote down Sandra’s name. And just like that, the queen was dethroned.
