At this rate, every song from Taylor Swift‘s upcoming album “Reputation” will have charted by the time her album is finally released on November 10. On Thursday, October 19, she released her third single from the album, “Gorgeous,” along with a lyric video that in less than 24 hours has already racked up 3.5 million views as of this writing. What do you think of her latest song? Watch above, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Our first impression of Swift in her “Reputation” era was a dark one, lashing out — probably at Kanye West — with her lead single “Look What You Made Me Do,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with such warm sentiments as “I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me / I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.” She’s also “furious” with the subject of her latest song, but only for being too “gorgeous” for her to think straight: “You make me so happy it turns back to sad / There’s nothing I hate more than what I can’t have / And you are so gorgeous it makes me so mad / Guess I’ll just stumble on home to my cats … alone.”
“Look What You Made Me Do” spent three weeks on top of the Billboard chart and as of the most recent chart dated October 28 is still in the top five. Swift’s immediate followup single, “Ready for It,” peaked at number-four. How will “Gorgeous” do relative to those first two hits? And do you prefer this lovelorn Swift to the more vengeful Swift?
