Billboard reports that Taylor Swift‘s new single “Look What You Made Me Do” is on its way to the number-one spot on the Hot 100 singles chart in a big way. The song is on track to have the biggest digital sales week of 2017, and it may have the biggest streaming week of the year too. But while the long-awaited song may be her biggest number-one hit, do you think it’s her best? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
During a career going back more than 10 years to when she got her start as a teenage country star in 2006, she has had a string of big hits, including crossover songs like “Love Story,” “White Horse,” and “Mean.” But she didn’t hit number-one on the Hot 100 until she started to decisively transition into pop music. Her first chart-topper was “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” in 2012. That was the lead single from her fourth album, “Red.” It took her two years to reach the top spot again: in 2014 she released “Shake it Off,” the lead single from her fully pop follow-up album “1989.” The success of that album was great enough that it fueled two more number-one hits: “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” (featuring Kendrick Lamar).
She came close to the top spot again earlier this year with “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” her duet with Zayn, but that song peaked at number two, so “Look What You Made Me Do” would be only her fifth number-one single of her career so far. However, the song has received mixed reviews, inspiring think pieces across the web and eliciting love-it-or-hate-it reactions from our readers. So what do you think? Is it her best?
