After six seasons on MTV, “Teen Wolf” is coming to an end. On Thursday, the cast of this modern-day take on the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie of the same name gathered for one last photo. Not only are they celebrating the end of production but they are commemorating the fact that the finale brings the tally to an impressive 100 episodes.
The show has bounced around the schedule since it was launched immediately following the MTV Movie Awards in 2011. After two seasons of just a dozen episodes apiece, the third was doubled in size. It then reverted back to just 12 in season four before ramping up to 20 each in seasons five and six. It has won Best Summer Show at the Teen Choice Awards three times (2012, 2015, 2016) and is sure to contend again this year.
Tyler Posey starred Scott McCall who, after being bitten by a werewolf, must learn to cope with his altered state while Dylan O’Brien has been by his side throughout as “Stiles” Stilinski, Scott’s best friend.
Over the years, supporting cast members have come and gone. For the first three seasons, Crystal Reed was Scott’s love interest, Allison Argent, who was descended from werewolf hunters. The actress returned as her character’s ancestor Marie Jeanne Valet in the season five episode “Maid of Gevaudan” and has been back for the final half of this season.
Tyler Hoechlin played Derek Hale in seasons 1 through 4. He was the scion of a prominent werewolf family who started off as an enemy to Scott and his pack but eventually became a friend. As of late, Hoechlin has been recurring as the Man of Steel on “Supergirl” so we won’t see him again on “Teen Wolf.”
