‘The Defenders’ final trailer: Learn more about evil Sigourney Weaver before Marvel series premieres [WATCH]

The long-awaited Netflix series “The Defenders” premieres on August 18, but before releasing the entire season the streaming service has premiered one last trailer to whet your appetite for the Marvel crossover that unites gritty New York City heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). But this trailer focuses more closely on their adversary Alexandra, played by Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver. Watch above.

“I thought it would be a good idea if we all talked this over like adults,” says Alexandra as she greets the Defenders in a Chinese restaurant to try to come to an understanding. “ the same thing I’ve always wanted: to bring light into the dark, to bring life where there is death.” That doesn’t sound too bad, actually, but Luke points out, “For all your talk of life, you sure kill a lot of people.”

Alexandra seems determined to divide the newly united superheroes. “I can see you’ve formed a bond here,” she observes. “I promise you it’s temporary. They will disappoint you. And if I might give you some advice, the more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you. You need to think this through. New York is so densely populated …”
