Team Adam Levine ‘The Voice’ battle: Mark Isaiah was wrong choice over Gaby Borromeo say 58% of readers

The fourth of the six battles on the March 20 episode of “The Voice” pitted two of Adam Levine‘s artists — Gaby Borromeo and Mark Isaiah — against each other. For their battle song, Levine chose the Zayn Malik ballad “Pillowtalk,” which hit No. 1 last year. While Borromeo had once been signed to the label of John Legend, who was sitting in as an advisor, that didn’t give her the edge. Rather, Isaiah, who has the look of a teen idol as Malik once did as part of boy band One Direction, was the clear winner. And with none of the other coaches wanting to use a steal, Borromeo exited.

We asked if you thought Levine made the right choice by going with Isaiah and by a vote of 58% to 48% you rejected his decision. If you haven’t voted in our poll yet,  watch the battle above and then cast your ballot below. And be sure to sound off in our comments section too.

POLL: Who is the greatest ‘The Voice’ champion of all time?

In the auditions, Levine had liked the sound of Borromeo when she sang “Happy,” a track from Leona Lewis‘ second album “Echo.” Lewis had won the UK version of “The X Factor” in 2006 and Levine told Borromeo, 23, that she had that same indefinable quality, which made her pick him over Shelton. Despite being only 19, Isaiah had showed off his vocal control with his rendition of the Shawn Mendes 2016 hit “Mercy.” While Levine and Gwen Stefani both wanted to mentor him, Isaiah opted for the former, who spoke glowingly of his radio-friendly voice.

Over the course of the four Battle episodes, the 12 artists on each team will be split into six pairs and have to sing the same song for their survival. The four coaches — Levine, Alicia KeysBlake Shelton and Stefani — will then have to decide which contender in each battle to take to the Knockout rounds.
