‘The Voice’ blind audition: Kristi Hoopes sings ‘Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love’ [WATCH]

Five-time coaching winner Blake Shelton might be setting himself up for another championship. He claimed the young singer Kristi Hoopes for his team Tuesday night after facing off against both Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson. She was masterful on the Trisha Yearwood song “Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love” (watch the video above) during one of the final blind auditions of Season 13.

NBC’s Emmy-winning “The Voice” premiered Monday, September 25, with the first blind auditions of this season. We offered fun, exciting live blogs for that episode plus a second night on that Tuesday, a third installment on Monday, October 2, a fourth night on Tuesday, October 3, this week’s fifth night on Monday, October 9, and sixth evening on Tuesday, October 10.

For this performance of the one-hour episode, our contributing writer Denton Davidson said in his power rankings item: “The warm tone and power of this country singer’s voice is what stars are made of. Her classic sense of style makes her a vision to watch perform and with Blake as her coach, the sky is the limit. I’m not sure Blake could have found a better artist to complete his team this season. She definitely has potential to make a run deep into the competition.”

According to her NBC bio about the 19-year-old from Colorado: “Being from Colorado, Kristi describes herself as a ‘Rocky Mountain Hippie Chick.’ Kristi became interested in music after hearing Loretta Lynn‘s version of ‘These Boots Are Made for Walking,’ which inspired her to perform the song at her third grade talent show, which she won. Currently, Kristi is pursuing a music business degree at Middle Tennessee State University. The Voice is a great opportunity to help Kristi with her career, perspective and artistry.”
