‘The Voice’ blind audition: Sammie Zonana takes on Ariana Grande’s ‘Dangerous Woman’ [WATCH]

As “The Voice” blind auditions are coming to a conclusion, who was most impressive on Monday’s episode? Our writer Denton Davidson discusses the 13 artists from this latest program with his power rankings for the aspiring singers. He loves Sammie Zonana, a 24-year-old Texas native who took on the Ariana Grande hit tune “Dangerous Woman” (watch above). He says: “This bluesy indie artist’s ability to translate a current pop song into something completely her own is what “The Voice” is all about. This is the type of performance that would inspire serious iTunes purchases during the live performances and she will be instantly recognizable moving forward. Although it wasn’t my favorite performance of the night, her potential this season is endless. Ultimately only Gwen Stefani turned around, so there was no debate on which team she would join.”

Could she win the big prize for Season 12? Here is her official NBC bio: “Sammie did not discover music until college, where she taught herself the guitar via YouTube tutorials. She turned her passion for screenwriting into songwriting. She works as a data entry assistant on the side and is currently planning her wedding with her fiancée, Brooke, for whom she wrote a love song. She comes from a religious family, so it was difficult for her to come out, but her parents have come around and love her more than ever.”
