‘The Voice’ blind audition poll: Coaches made a mistake by not turning for Stephen Bores (‘Three Little Birds’)?

Of the six artists who sang on Tuesday’s edition of “The Voice,” all but one advanced from this blind audition to the Battle Rounds. The lone non-survivor was Stephen Bores, who failed to impress with a rendition of Bob Marley‘s 1980 song “Three Little Birds.” We asked you if the coaches had made a mistake by not turning for him and a whopping 67% of you said they had.

The 32-year-old craft beer brewer hails from Arlington, IL, a village of less than 200 people. He was  hoping to win over Gwen Stefani, as he is a huge fan of her work with No Doubt. But she had just filled her 12th and final slot with the preceding artist, Jozy Bernadette who sang the rock classic “American Woman.”

Likewise for five-time champ Blake Shelton, who had rounded out his top 12 earlier in the evening with teen talent Dawson Coyle who sang “Happiness” by the Christian rock band Needtobreathe. That left Alicia Keys and Adam Levine as the only coaches still in need of artists for their teams.

POLL: Who is the greatest ‘The Voice’ champion of all time?

Both of them listened attentively as he sang “Three Little Birds,” which is often referred to as either “Don’t Worry About a Thing” or “Every Little Thing is Gonna Be Alright”, because of the repeated use of those phrases in the chorus.

After he finished with neither hitting their button to turn, Levine offered the visibly disappointed Bores some advice. He suggested that it was the song that had let him down and encouraged him to return with a better pick next season.

Levine then picked the next artist to perform, Sheena Brook, who sang the 2004 Sugarland hit “Baby Girl” while Keys was left with Chris Blue, who did the 1965 Motown classic “Tracks of My Tears.”
