‘The Voice’ blind auditions: Adam Cunningham (‘Midnight Rider’) latest country artist to join Team Blake Shelton [WATCH]

During Night 3 of “The Voice” Season 13, singer Adam Cunningham became the latest country artist to join Team Blake Shelton as he belted out The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Midnight Rider.” Jennifer Hudson also turned her chair because she liked the soul in his voice, while Adam Levine and Miley Cyrus decided to stay out of the battle. Watch Cunningham’s “The Voice” blind audition video above.

One fresh aspect of “The Voice” this season is seeing some of the coaches fight for a contestant on behalf of their fellow coaches. For example, Cyrus urged Cunningham to choose Hudson because she has a soul music background that Shelton doesn’t. Unfortunately for the female duo, Cunningham went with the safe choice of Shelton, who’s already won more seasons than any of the other coaches.

Cunningham’s rock/country performance of “Midnight Rider” was good enough to advance to the next round with Shelton as his mentor. But with so many other country artists on Shelton’s roster, some will have to be sacrificed in the Battle Rounds. Do you think Cunningham will make it all the way to the Season 13 finale?

Cunningham is 38 years old and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Here is his official NBC bio: “Adam, a session singer in Nashville, grew up singing at churches with his mom and dad before releasing a few Christian albums as a young adult. Things were starting to look good until 2011 when his career went on the fritz as he and his first wife divorced. Adam put music on hold until 2013 when he met his current wife, Courtney. She brought light into Adam’s life and he started writing songs again. A year ago, Adam and Courtney welcomed a baby girl into their family. Now, more than ever, Adam wants to make a successful career singing his music.”
