Miley Cyrus stole the show on Tuesday’s finale of the “The Voice” when she performed her change-of-pace new single “Malibu.” Penned as an ode to her finace Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus delivered this plaintive plea of love against a backdrop of images drawn from the “Malibu” video. (Watch above)
This tune, which she co-wrote with long-time collaborator Oren Yoel, has raced up the charts since it was released on May 11. This track will be featured on her sixth studio album, which is due out in October.
Cyrus is set to return to “The Voice” in the fall as one of the four coaches. She was a mentor in season 11. However, as with Gwen Stefani this year, she did not have an act in the final four with her last two artists falling by the wayside in the semi-final. Cyrus will join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who have been with the show since season 1, as well as newcomer Jennifer Hudson who is coming off a win on the UK version of the show. She made history on the other side of the pond as the first female to mentor the champion when Mo Adeniran won season 6 of the English edition of “The Voice” in April.
Hudson and Cyrus replace Alicia Keys, who just won this season with Chris Blue, and Stefani. Are you looking forward to Cyrus returning to the show? Be sure to sound off on this season of “The Voice” in our reality TV forum. And visit our home page for the latest in entertainment news.
