Week 3 of the live shows began Monday night on “The Voice” Season 13, with country artist Addison Agen representing Team Adam Levine in the Top 10. Agen had the honor of closing the night, and she did so with an angelic cover of Britney Spears‘ “Lucky,” which prompted Levine to name her the best artist in the competition. Do you think Agen did good enough to advance to next week’s Top 8? Watch Agen’s performance from “The Voice” 2017 live shows above.
Our writer Denton Davidson live-blogged the episode, and as he noted, “Addison is one line into the song and I already love everything about it. Her hat looks ridiculous but she sounds gorgeous. She probably has the most unique tone of the season and she gains confidence each week. She further sells the performance this week with a look of total hopelessness on her face. I just want to give her a hug. It wasn’t a flawless performance, but I absolutely loved the creativity behind it. Bravo!”
Back in her blind audition of the reality TV show, Agen performed “Jolene” and had two coaches turn their chairs around: Miley Cyrus and Levine. The next time we saw Agen in the battle rounds, she and Karli Webster sang “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and Webster was declared the winner by her coach Cyrus, resulting in Levine stealing Agen for his team. In the knockouts Agen was paired up against Dennis Drummond and Agen prevailed thanks to her performance of “Beneath Your Beautiful.” Agen’s rendition of “Angel from Montgomery” in the playoffs was good enough to send her through to the live shows. She sang “She Used to Be Mine” during Top 12 week and “A Case of You” during Top 11 week.
Agen is 16 years old and currently resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Here’s the official NBC bio: “Addison had never been on a plane before flying out to audition for The Voice. Raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Addison started singing when she was only four years old. When she was nine, her father bought a record store that gave Addison the opportunity to explore many different genres and musical influences. She began songwriting when she was 11, and recently, her father built a stage inside the shop so she could perform. Addison’s mother has several jobs, including being a musical therapist at nursing homes. Addison loves to help her mom by singing at the nursing homes and getting the residents excited about music.”
