Third time could be the charm for “The Voice” coach Gwen Stefani, who has a strong contender in Brennley Brown. On Monday’s edition of the hit NBC show, this 15-year-old talent was the last of the Top 10 to perform. However, she could well finish ahead of the other artists on the iTunes chart for her rendition of “Anyway” (watch her performance on the video above).
This 2006 song by country superstar Martina McBride was the first of her hits that she co-wrote. Brown looked and sounded like a winner. Blake Shelton, who has racked up a string of country number ones, was quick to praise Brown, telling her “vocally, it was better than I ever imagined.” And her coach, who happens to be dating Shelton, observed, “I think your voice has never shined brighter than it does today.”
As per her NBC bio: “Brennley grew up listening to country music and performing in school talent shows. Her signature move was throwing her pink cowgirl hat into the audience at shows. She recently was cast as Lily on the animated show “Sofia the First.” For two years, starting at age three, she watched her mother go in and out of hospitals before she was diagnosed with Lyme carditis, which has no cure. Music helped Brennley cope with her mother’s diagnosis. Her dad owns a hair salon where she spends her spare time when she’s not gigging, doing voiceover work or homework!”
