Young contender Brennley Brown knocked another home run Monday evening in her quest to become Season 12 champion of “The Voice.” Performing for Team Gwen Stefani , she took on the challenging, haunting tune “River” (watch her performance below). Will Gwen be able to take down five-time champ Blake Shelton, three-time winner Adam Levine, and rival coach Alicia Keys for this current spring season?
In his rankings for Monday’s program, our writer Denton Davidson says the following about Brennley: “The youngest artist in the competition certainly doesn’t seem fazed as she continues to grow each week into a serious frontrunner. This soft-spoken Joni Mitchell cover was a welcome diversion from her typical country tunes but was just as effective. I’m more impressed with this young singer each time she takes the stage and wouldn’t be at all surprised if she takes the crown at the end.”
According to her NBC bio: “Brennley grew up listening to country music and performing in school talent shows. Her signature move was throwing her pink cowgirl hat into the audience at shows. She recently was cast as Lily on the animated show ‘Sofia the First.’ For two years, starting at age three, she watched her mother go in and out of hospitals before she was diagnosed with Lyme carditis, which has no cure. Music helped Brennley cope with her mother’s diagnosis. Her dad owns a hair salon where she spends her spare time when she’s not gigging, doing voiceover work or homework!”
