For Monday’s first live show of Season 13 on “The Voice,” contender Noah Mac arranged his own version of “Speed of Sound” by Coldplay. He is the young teenage heartthrob who is competing for Team Jennifer Hudson on this round, hoping to move into the Top 11 on Tuesday’s results program. Watch his performance on the video above.
Gold Derby is now offering live blog coverage for each episode, including all of the recent playoff rounds on Monday, November 13, Tuesday, November 14 and Wednesday, November 15. Our contributing writer Denton Davidson posted the following in his live blog about the first live show on Monday, November 20: “Noah sounds great and he’s really coming into his own as a performer. He’s playing the guitar and singing with confidence while showing different textures of his voice. His naturally low timbre and falsetto each on display. He is a star and there’s something magnetic about him and it doesn’t matter that he’s not the season’s top vocalist. He knows his lane and excels within it.”
Songs in the first few weeks for Mac have been “Way Down We Go,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Hold Back the River,” and “In the Air Tonight.” He is 17 years old and currently resides in Dublin, California. Here’s the official NBC bio: “Noah spends most of his time writing and recording music in a studio he built himself in his family’s backyard shed. He got his start in music in the most heartbreaking way – when Noah was seven years old, his 19-year-old sister, Stevie, lost her fight with brain cancer. His sister was his biggest inspiration. Despite his sadness, he decided to sing at her funeral. His performance shocked everyone, including his parents, who had no idea he had a voice. Noah recently produced and released an EP.”
