On Monday night the Top 12 artists of “The Voice” Season 12 squared off for their second live show of the season. Tonight the audience takes on the responsibility of elimination — votes were cast and tracks were downloaded on iTunes overnight, both contributing to an artist’s overall vote. The artists whose songs crack the top 10 on iTunes get a vote multiplier while the two artists with the lowest overall vote must sing again for the “instant save” to be determined live via Twitter at the end of the show.
As of this writing, it’s reported that Brennley Brown (Team Gwen Stefani) was the highest charting artist of the week, peaking at #7 on iTunes with her performance of “Long, Long Time.” Team Blake Shelton’s Lauren Duski’s is the only other artist to receive the bonus — her song “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good” peaked at #10 on iTunes.
At Gold Derby we’re asking you to predict all season long in four questions — Which artist will win the season?; Which coach will win the season?; Which artist will be eliminated this week?; and Which artist will be in the bottom but not eliminated? Your predictions are compiled with everyone predicting to determine overall odds in each of the questions. See below for my analysis of which artists are leading the odds in each question based on your predictions after Monday night’s performance show. Then check out my personal power rankings of Monday night’s performances and be sure to update your own predictions in the next few hours before tonight’s results are revealed.
According to Blake, Alicia Keys lucked out when she was the only coach with an open spot on her team when Chris Blue came to the stage for his blind audition because he’s long considered him one of the season’s frontrunners to win. Based on our predictions, Gold Derby readers agree — we’re giving him 6/5 leading odds to win the season right now. He’s followed closely by Hunter Plake, Gwen’s artist that made “Voice” history this season as the first artist to have two songs chart within the iTunes top 30 before the live shows even started, with 3/1 odds of winning. These two artists are true performers, both exhibiting confidence and ownership of the stage in each of their performances. As the frontrunners, Chris and Hunter have given Alicia and Gwen the edge this season, each hoping to become the second female coach to crown a champion. Alicia has slightly better odds in that race with 21/20 over Gwen’s 23/10 second place odds.
On the flip side of things, Gwen also has an artist in danger of elimination this week. Her artist Troy Ramey is currently predicted as the second most likely artist to be eliminated tonight with 10/3 odds — he trails Blake’s artist TSoul who has 11/5 odds. The lack of confidence in both men is likely due to them missing out on the public vote last week and needing the support of their coach in order to advance to the Top 12. Not surprisingly, Adam Levine’s Mark Isaiah is also an artist that needed a save from his coach to advance and he leads with 1/1 odds as the artist most likely to be in the bottom but not eliminated. Troy once again comes in second there with 11/2 odds.
