‘The Voice’ Top 8: Lauren Duski performs ‘Ghost in This House’ for Team Blake Shelton [WATCH]

The artist best positioned to give coach Blake Shelton a sixth “The Voice” championship is probably Lauren Duski. Throughout Season 12, she has been a rock solid singer for Team Blake and proved no different on Monday’s Top 8 episode by performing “Ghost in This House” by Shenandoah (watch her performance on the video above). Blake is far out front of coach Adam Levine, who has been victorious on the reality program three times. Rivals Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani are each hoping to triumph for the first time.

In his rankings for Monday’s program, our writer Denton Davidson says the following about Lauren: “Lauren has consistently been the best storyteller though song this season and she was at her best with this song. Dressed in an elegant, white gown she looked like a star while singing out powerful lyrics with true intentions behind them. My criticism of Lauren in the past has been that she just didn’t hold much star power but that couldn’t be said about tonight’s performance. She was more captivating than ever and her gorgeous tone was put on full display throughout a song that will surely get her into the finale.”

According to her NBC bio: “At a young age, Lauren entered many karaoke competitions, leading to several years of touring Michigan and performing classic country hits with JR Country Band. They opened for Lonestar, Randy Travis and Bill Anderson. After high school, Lauren shifted her focus from writing music to dental school. She met independent filmmaking couple Ann Gillis and husband Marvin, and they encouraged her to move to Nashville, taking Lauren under their wing. After Ann was diagnosed with ALS, Lauren felt the need to give back to her by becoming her full-time caretaker.”
