With just two episodes remaining in Season 7, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is ramping up the action in next week’s “Something They Need.” Nearly every main character makes an appearance in the latest trailer with the locales of Alexandria, Hilltop, The Sanctuary and Oceanside all coming into play. The plot is kept intentionally vague, but let’s start speculating a few outcomes. Watch the preview trailer above for “The Walking Dead” Season 7, Episode 15.
For the bulk of the video, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) leads a team of Alexandrians on some sort of mission. The chatter overheard in the video (“Watch for the signal”) indicates they are preparing for a type of attack. But who is Rick’s target?
At one point, the group follows Tara (Alanna Masterson) through a wooded area. Given that she was ready to give up her friends at Oceanside in order to raid their armory, that all-female community could be in for quite a surprise. An explosion occurs in Oceanside a few frames later, and the reclusive women scatter. Has Tara led Rick and company to the secret camp, or has Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) finally discovered them? If the violence is a result of Tara’s betrayal, she better stay clear of Natania (Deborah May), who will be out for blood.
But Rick could be planning an attack against Negan instead. It is unlikely he would assault Oceanside without attempting to reason with Natania first. Michonne (Danai Gurira) is seen firing her sniper rifle, which would indicate they are going after a heavily armed group. That should make viewers worried about the fate of several characters. While Rick’s group consists of fighters like Michonne and Daryl (Norman Reedus), several other less skilled Alexandrians join the mission as well. This would be the first combat Eric (Jordan Woods-Robinson) and Scott (Kenric Green) encounter since recovering from serious injuries.
Elsewhere, Gregory (Xander Berkeley) continues to cause trouble for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) at Hilltop. He makes a phony pitch about working together, all the while holding a knife behind his back. It’s truly stunning as to how long such a weasel of a man like Gregory has survived in the cutthroat zombie apocalypse. And with most seasons of “The Walking Dead” featuring the demise of a villain, hopefully Maggie is able to turn Gregory’s own knife against him. It’s time for Maggie to lead.
Conspicuously absent from the clip are both Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). Sasha ran into the Saviors’ compound in the last episode in an attempt to kill Negan. Rosita was locked behind a fence and ran away from the suicide mission, only to be pursued by a shadowy figure. Find out if either character survives when “Something They Need” airs Sunday, March 26.
