With only four episodes left before the season finale, “The Walking Dead” is setting the stage for another deadly showdown with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). In last week’s “Say Yes,” Rosita (Christian Serratos) recruits Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) to accompany her on the mission. She went to her at Hilltop and explained, “I came because I need your help,” There is a tacit understanding between the women and Sasha simply replies, “One condition: I get to take the shot.”
After Rosita unloads a sniper rifle from her bag, Sasha declares, “I’m ready to kill him, but I need to make sure you know what this means. They can’t catch us alive.” Will viewers be saying goodbye to both of them this season? Have your say in our poll below and sound off in the comments section.
We know that there will be multiple deaths in the April 2 season finale, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.” That episode was scripted by Greg Nicotero, who also crafted the season premiere “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.” In that instalment, two characters died. Could we see the same in the last episode of the season too? After all, both actresses have upcoming commitments that could mean that they didn’t sign on for season eight.
Martin-Green just got cast on the new series “Star Trek: Discovery.” This high-profile series is set to launch on CBS: All Access in the coming months and the production and promotion will, no doubt, be all-consuming.
For Serratos, it is personal: she is expecting a baby. Sure, others in “The Walking Dead” cast have been pregnant while filming and the writers have come up with creative ways of concealing their condition. But Serratos may want a break, especially as her character is in such a downward spiral.
