WGN America Emmy FYC mailer: What episodes of ‘Outsiders’ & ‘Underground’ were shipped to TV academy members?

WGN America’s two flagship series “Outsiders” and “Underground” are currently being viewed by members of the TV academy. The network has sent out their FYC Emmy mailer to the entire membership of 20,000 that contains a separate booklet for each show. Six episodes of “Outsiders” and six episodes of “Underground” are included on DVDs within the FYC package, and a link is also provided so that Emmy voters can watch the full seasons at the WGN America online screening room.

“Outsiders,” a drama series about an Appalachian family that lives above the law, has included these half-dozen episodes on two discs: #201 “And the Three Shall Save You,” #202 “Shadowside,” #207 “Home for Supper,” #210 “Strangers in a Strange Land,” #211 “The Run” and #212 “What Must Be Done.”

Critics were impressed with Season 2 of “Outsiders,” which stars David Morse and Ryan Hurst as the leaders of the family. Amber Dowling (The Wrap) wrote that the show “delivers results thanks to the likes of Peter Tolan and Paul Giamatti at the helm as executive producers.”

In “Underground,” Jurnee Smollett-Bell stars as Rosalee, a sheltered woman who finds her inner grit when she escapes slavery for freedom in the North. In its second season the show added real-life Underground Railroad hero Harriet Tubman, played by guest star Aisha Hinds. The first six episodes were sent out on a pair of DVDs: #201 “Contraband,” #202 “Things Unsaid,” #203 “Ache,” #204 “Nok Aaut,” #205 “Whiteface” and #206 “Minty.”

TV Line named Hinds the “performer of the week” following her star turn in “Minty” which aired on April 12. Watch Gold Derby’s “Underground” Emmy interviews with cast members Jurnee Smollette-Bell and Aisha Hinds, co-creator Misha Green, and costume designer Karyn Wagner.
