2018 ACM Awards performers: Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney join the lineup of musicians taking the stage

The Academy of Country Music Awards have announced a second round of performers who will take the stage at the 53rd annual event taking place on Sunday night, April 15, on CBS. Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban join the lineup of musical acts that already includes previously announced performances by Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Bebe Rexha and Thomas Rhett.

Chesney has won 12 ACM Awards over the course of his career, including Entertainer of the Year four times (2005-2008), the Crystal Milestone Award in 2012 and the 50th Anniversary Milestone Award in 2015, though he has no nominations at this year’s kudos.

Urban has also been a longtime academy favorite with 12 victories of his own, including Male Vocalist of the Year in 2005 and 2006. He’s got five nominations in 2018 including Entertainer of the Year, which he has never won before despite seven previous attempts.

Shelton, also known for his role as a coach on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice,” is an award-winning vocalist in his own right with five ACMs, including Male Vocalist of the Year in 2012. This year he’s up for Single Record of the Year for “I’ll Name the Dogs,” which was a top-10 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

The trio Lady Antebellum have won 11 awards, most of them between 2010 and 2011 for their album “Need You Now” and its title song, which was a major crossover hit on the pop charts. They’re nominated again this year for Vocal Group of the Year, an award they received three years in a row from 2010-2012.

Along with these performers the ACMs have also announced a list of awards presenters: football player Drew Brees, “Entertainment Tonight” host Nancy O’Dell, actress Rebecca Romijn, and Olympic gold medal winning skier Lindsey Vonn.
