“Lady Bird” is far ahead to win Best Film Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes on Sunday according to all four groups making predictions at Gold Derby. As of this writing, Greta Gerwig‘s charming character study has the backing of nine of the dozen Expert film journalists we’ve polled for their prediction. In addition, it has the votes of all seven of our in-house Editors as well as 19 of our Top 24 Users who got the highest scores predicting last year’s Globe winners and 18 of our All-Star Top 24 who got the highest scores when you combine the last two years’ predictions.
When you combine the forecasts of all these users, “Lady Bird” has overwhelming odds of 1/4 to win. Jordan Peele‘s social satire “Get Out” has three experts in its corner as well as five votes apiece from the Top 24 and All-Stars. That translates into odds of 4/1 for it to pull off an upset.
The nine Experts expecting “Lady Bird” to win are: Erik Davis (Fandango), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Tariq Khan (Fox News), Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), Anne Thompson (IndieWire), Brian Truitt (USA Today), Adnan Virk (ESPN), and Susan Wloszczyna (RogerEbert.com).
