Hey, Frances McDormand (‘Three Billboards’): You gave the best Golden Globes acceptance speech of 2018 [POLL RESULTS]

The 2018 Golden Globes may be a thing of the past, but Frances McDormand‘s acceptance speech as Best Film Drama Actress is still a hot topic of conversation. In fact, the “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri” star gave the best speech of the evening, according to 38% of fans who voted in our Golden Globes poll. (We chose not to include Oprah Winfrey‘s Cecil B. DeMille speech in our poll as she likely would have run away with the vote.) Relive McDormand’s moment in the spotlight by watching the video above.

“Well, I have a few things to say,” declared McDormand as she triumphantly stepped up the Golden Globes winner’s podium for the first time in her career. “Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. I’m still not quite sure who they are when I run into them for the last 35 years, but I love seeing their faces. And, let’s face it, they managed to elect a female President.” When addressing the sexual harassment scandals, McDormand noted, “Trust me, the women in this room tonight are not here for the food. We are here for the work.”

This was McDormand’s sixth individual Golden Globe nomination after previously losing for “Fargo” (1996), “Almost Famous” (2000), “North Country” (2005), “Burn After Reading” (2008) and “Olive Kitteridge” (2014). She did, however, earn a special Globe at the 1994 ceremony when the ensemble cast of “Short Cuts” was rewarded.
