Len Goodman might leave ‘Dancing with the Stars’ after this season — should he stick around? [POLL]

Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” might be Len Goodman’s last dance. The longtime head judge’s contract is up after this season and has hinted that it may not be renewed.

“This may be my last season. It’s the end of my contract and they may not [want] to have me anymore,” Goodman told the U.K.’s “Daily Mail” via “The Sun.” “They might have had enough of me. I don’t want to retire totally but I’m quite happy doing nothing — reading a book and pottering in the garden.”

Goodman, who turns 74 on April 25, had been scaling back his judging duties on both sides of the pond in recent years. An original judge on the original British series “Strictly Come Dancing,” he juggled both shows for 11 years before departing “Strictly” in 2016. He sat out all of Season 21 of “Dancing,” and missed much of Season 19 and Season 23, during which former pro Julianne Hough joined the judging panel; she left after Season 24.

If this is indeed Goodman’s last season and Hough won’t be back again, ABC should ring up Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who’s made it clear he wants a seat at the judges’ table.

“I would love to do that gig. That’s my thing,” he told MassLive.com earlier this month. “That’s my medium [and] that’s what I know. I know exactly what I am looking at. I know exactly what I want it to be and exactly how to influence someone to do better in that genre. That’s what a judge should do, in addition to adding to the production.”

Chmerkovskiy has been a guest judge three times on the show. Meanwhile, our readers are itching for six-time champ Derek Hough, who’s currently a judge on “World of Dance,” to judge “Dancing.”

Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” premieres Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC.
