‘Once Upon a Time’ finale: Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas return for ‘Leaving Storybrooke’ series closer

Once Upon a Time” ends its run in May with a series finale, “Leaving Storybrooke,” that will see the return of one-time stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas. They all left the show last year at the end of season 6, after Morrison’s character, Emma Swann, got her happy ending. She married her long-time love Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) as her parents Snow White (Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Dallas) looked on lovingly.

Morrison has been seen only once in this season 7 reboot, which jumped ahead several decades and focused on her now grown-up son Henry (Andrew J. West) and his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez). Tapped for a return appearance in the third last installment, episode 20, is Jared Gilmore as young Henry who will figure prominently in flashbacks.

And Sean Maguire will reprise his role as Robin Hood, suitor to Regina (Lana Parilla) in the finale. Dare we hope for a happy ending for this ill-fated couple?  O’Donoghue, Parilla and Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumpelstiltskin, were the only members of the original cast to stay with the show for season 7.

And they weren’t playing their original parts. Emilie de Ravin, who joined in season 1 as Belle has appeared in one episode already this season and will also be back for the finale. Rebecca Mader, who first appeared as the Wicked Witch in season 3 and signed on as a regular in season 5, came back in a multi-episode arc.
