Last year’s Best Picture race ended like a great horror film with shock and terror as “La La Land” was mistakenly announced instead of actual winner “Moonlight” because of an accountant blunder. In my new Oscar parody video I resort to “Get Out” hypnotherapy techniques to try and escape this trauma of last year. Because as a white man, this is the biggest trauma I face in life. Will I just end up in a Best Picture sunken place? Watch our Oscars comedy spoof above.
With four nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay, “Get Out” has become one of the major Oscar players of the year. A big reason’s for the film’s success is how it twists the horror genre to provide biting social commentary on modern day racism. The film sees Chris (Daniel Kaluuuya) spend the weekend with his girlfriend’s seemingly accommodating parents upstate. Mysterious house servants and intense hypnotherapy with a tea cup lead Chris to realize a dark side to the family.
The film is out front to win the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for the writer and director Jordan Peele, with combined 9/10 odds at Gold Derby. Find out who wins when the 2018 Oscars take place Sunday, March 4 on ABC.
