Wednesday night on CBS, the final seven “Survivor: Ghost Island” castaways fought for a chance of making next week’s season finale. Gold Derby’s predicted winner, Wendell Holland, was once again a target because of his secret advantages and alliance with Domenick Abbate and Sebastian Noel. But the Malolo duo of Laurel Johnson and Donathan Hurley held all the cards and could have chosen to side with the guys or with the remaining girls, Kellyn Bechtold and Angela Perkins. How did it all play out?

7:59 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Survivor’!” During last week’s 12th episode the Naviti tribe turned on one of their own as unlikely challenge beast Chelsea Townsend was sent packing. That proved to Kellyn and Angela that they couldn’t trust Laurel (and by proxy, Donathan). Will the guys’ alliance continue to take out the Naviti girls? Or is a major blindside in store just one week before the Season 36 finale?
8:00 p.m. – Following last week’s Naviti split, Kellyn realizes that her attempt at a big move has left her at the bottom. At this point she knows that Wendell and Domenick are at the top and will want to get her out as soon as possible.
8:02 p.m. – Laurel and Donathan still have the option to jump ship on their alliance with Domenick and Laurel and see tonight as their last chance to take a shot at them before the final stretch. As she said last week, Laurel knows she can’t beat either of them in the end, but she considers them both friends and doesn’t necessarily want to betray them. Donathan seems much more eager to make the move, but is frustrated by Laurel’s reluctance. All that being said, Donathan speaks with Kellyn and offers her the chance to make a move against the boys, pleading to her not to tell them.
8:04 p.m. – For tonight’s reward challenge they are divided into three teams of two, meaning one is left out with no chance to win. The challenge is to keep spools running down a course, when one drops the pair is out. The pairs are: Kellyn and Sebastian, Wendell and Domenick, Donathan and Laurel, leaving Angela out.
8:07 p.m. – Starting the challenge with just two spools on the course and then adding a third, all pairs manage to keep them going. When a fourth spool is added Donathan and Laurel get caught in a close call, but manage to catch it before it drops.
8:10 p.m. – The fifth spool is the nail in the coffin for all the pairs, but proves too hard for Sebastian (and Kellyn) and Laurel (and Donathan) first, leaving Domenick and Wendell as the winners! They earn a chance to be ambassadors to a Fijian school to deliver supplies and have a picnic. They’re given the option to choose one other to join them and with very little thought they choose Laurel. Their other choice is to send someone to ghost island and just as easily they send Sebastian. Wendell and Domenick’s choices piss Donathan off and set him on a course to want to turn against them once and for all. Will he have the numbers without Laurel though? Or will he just find himself in hot water because of it?
8:16 p.m. – On ghost island, Sebastian realizes that Wendell and Domenick may have sent him there because they see him as their sucker fish. Fortunately for him he’s given the option of playing a game for an advantage–like the others he has to choose an urn to smash, with 3 of 4 having an advantage and only 1 being a wasted vote. In the urn he smashes is a key that unlocks his advantage: the “steal a vote” that was used against Michaela Bradshaw and misused this season by Kellyn! In Sebastian’s hands now it’s an extra vote that he sees as an opportunity to make a big move of his own.
8:19 p.m. – Meanwhile on the reward, Wendell and Domenick hope to shore up their alliance with Laurel and show her that they trust her and want to be in the final three with her. Laurel tells them that she is of course with them and that her best chance to win is going to the end with them and hoping that they split votes between the jury because of their similar games and she finds just enough to beat them both. That’s what she tells them, but what she tells us in the camera is that she does plan to cut their throats. Hmm…. not sure I’m buying that she’ll actually do it though.
8:21 p.m. – Donathan’s plan is to continue dropping “truth bombs” at camp. His first one is to tell Wendell and Domenick that he knows he won’t make it to the end and that he’s giving his vote to Domenick in the end. What he’s trying to do is turn Domenick and Wendell against each other, but what Domenick actually reads into it is that Donathan is planning to make a big move against them.
8:26 p.m. – In tonight’s immunity challenge the castaways race to collect planks that they use to complete a bridge and then a ladder to get to a slide puzzle. First to finish the puzzle gets immunity and one of the other six becomes the next player voted out.
8:29 p.m. – Wendell and Sebastian take an early lead, switching back and forth between first place, but Wendell finishes the bridge section just before him. Domenick and Laurel are the next to finish the bridge, getting to the ladder as Wendell places his third rung. Wendell is the first to get to the puzzle and Sebastian once again just behind him as Donathan finally finishes the bridge. When Laurel finally reaches the puzzle, Jeff Probst points out that it’s the same slide puzzle that she worked on (but did not complete) on the very first day of the game.
8:31 p.m. – Donathan and Kellyn both manage to make it to the puzzle before anyone else finishes, but Domenick is excitedly working on his while Wendell and Laurel both take a cool and calm approach. Laurel is the first to ask for a check from Jeff and sure enough she’s right, winning immunity! But wait, Wendell points out that he had his finished but admittedly never called out to Jeff as Laurel did and so agrees that he shouldn’t win. What a boneheaded mistake! It would be really bad if he got voted out after such a flub.
8:38 p.m. – Despite wanting to get Wendell out tonight, Laurel thinks that it would be wrong to take him out after his flub at the immunity challenge. What?! Ugh. The alliance of three agrees that Kellyn is the best option to take out tonight and they take that idea to Donathan who out of nowhere brings up whether they’re going to blindside him. Domenick knows that Kellyn is the bigger threat, but Donathan’s reaction rubs him the wrong way and makes him seem more dangerous than Kellyn at this point.
8:41 p.m. – Wendell and Domenick come up with a plan to trick Donathan with a fake idol. The story is that Domenick stuffs the idol in Wendell’s bag in Donathan’s sight. Donathan justifiably gets upset and it makes him worried enough to go to Kellyn with a last ditch effort to try to get Domenick out. While that happens Domenick and Wendell throw the option out to Sebastian and Angela that maybe the four of them should throw votes at Donathan instead of Kellyn. Not sure there’s really much Kellyn can do to save herself at this point, especially if Angela and Sebastian are working with the alliance of three that wants her out.
8:50 p.m. – At tribal Domenick brings up what happened between him, Wendell and Donathan just before leaving camp. Donathan expresses his frustration at being left out of a situation where he was supposed to be aligned with people being secretive. After Kellyn says that she basically knows that vote is against her tonight, Donathan blurts out that it’s him instead. At that point Wendell says something cryptic to Angela, but we don’t know what plan he’s communicating to her–Donathan or Kellyn? It has to be one of those two, right?
8:53 p.m. – With a little bit of suspense in the air, the votes are cast and read (no one plays an idol): Domenick, Donathan, Kellyn, Kellyn, Donathan, Donathan, Kellyn. It’s a tie which means Sebastian didn’t use his vote and we have a re-vote. The second wave of votes are: Donathan, Kellyn, Kellyn, Kellyn. That’s enough and the one I picked to win from the very first episode is out! Waaaaah. Sebastian should have saved her. LOL!
