In Wednesday’s fourth episode of CBS’s “Survivor: Ghost Island,” the 17 remaining castaways got physical with each other in a classic water-based challenge. Stephanie Johnson, our predicted winner of Season 36, also had a breakdown on the beach about missing her kids. Who was the fourth person to be sent to spooky Ghost Island? And were Gold Derby’s predictions correct that Chris Noble would be voted out this week?

7:59 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Survivor’!” During last week’s third episode, host Jeff Probst told the castaways to “drop their buffs” at the season’s first tribe swap. Chris’s name was on the chopping block to be eliminated, but he ended up being saved because he was sent to Ghost Island. Instead, the new Naviti tribe voted out Morgan Ricke, leaving only 17 people still in the hunt to win the $1 million prize. Who will be voted out tonight?
8:01 p.m. – Back at Naviti after tribal council, Angela Perkins feels stabbed in the back by her former allies Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland, both of whom were betrayed by the members of the other former tribe and are now split from their own. Fortunately, Domenick has a real idol and he confesses this secret to Wendell in hopes that it can get them out of the tough spot they now find themselves in.
8:03 p.m. – In addition, Domenick gets the news that Morgan left her legacy advantage to him, essentially giving him a second idol (though the legacy idol can only be used at specific points in the game).
8:05 p.m. – For tonight’s reward challenge the tribes will be in the water wrestling inner tubes from each other in an effort to score points. The prize is a peanut butter & jelly lunch with the winning tribe also sending one member from the losing tribe to ghost island. This time the exiled player will return before the next immunity challenge and will not be safe from the next tribal council.
8:07 p.m. – In the first heat, Wendell and Chris score a point easily for Naviti. In the second heat, Laurel Johnson looks like a star for Malolo, but in the last minute Angela manages to pull her away from scoring and scores another point for Naviti, setting them 2-0. The next heat is guys and despite a valiant effort from Domenick and James Lim, Malolo’s Sebastian Noel dominates and scores a point to stay alive. In the fourth heat, Laurel comes out strong again and proves herself as an unstoppable force and takes her tribe to a win!
8:11 p.m. – Instead of bothering to try to reach a needed consensus, Naviti has Malolo draw rocks to determine who will head to ghost island. After expressing that it’s her worst fear, Kellyn Bechtold draws the white rock and is exiled to ghost island. She confesses that it is actually a fear for her, but it’s also probably meant to be and could help in her quest to win.
8:17 p.m. – On ghost island, Kellyn manages to choose a useful clue that directs her to a game of chance. She is asked to wager her vote against choosing between two options, one of which would be an advantage in the game. She trusts her gut and keeps her vote instead of going for an advantage.
8:20 p.m. – Back at Naviti, Chris wraps his head around his tribe’s decision to vote out Morgan instead of Domenick, who he thought they’d be voting out before he was sent to ghost island. Chris decides to approach the original Malolo members and offers to work with them in order to get Wendell and Domenick out. The problem is that Laurel doesn’t want to work with Chris and instead prefers to work with Wendell and Domenick, who eventually tells Laurel the truth that he has a real idol, earning her trust.
8:27 p.m. – This week’s immunity challenge sends the castaways back into the water to retrieve a heavy chest which they must drag ashore and move along a wooden track toward a narrow perch where they must toss balls on to and balance them there.
8:29 p.m. – In the first stage of the challenge, Naviti struggles untying and releasing the door to their cage, allowing Malolo to get off to a huge head start. Malolo is first to get their chest ashore and on the track, but somehow Naviti manages to close the gap enough to still have a fighting chance. That being said, Malolo still gets across the track first and begins balancing balls while Naviti starts to struggle again. But at the ball stage, Malolo fails to get all their balls up quickly and Naviti catches up, making it a photo finish with both tribes at four balls balanced when Naviti mounts a huge comeback and balances their fifth ball and wins immunity!
8:38 p.m. – This will be the new Malolo tribe’s first time at tribal council since the switch. The original Naviti members have the numbers over the original Malolo members, but as we saw last week, that doesn’t mean that they’ll stick together through the vote. The threat of a hidden idol causes the original Naviti members to target a guy thinking that they are less likely to use an idol on a guy because they’d want to keep him for strength.
8:42 p.m. – Michael Yerger and Brendan Shapiro do have an idol and Michael’s plan is to announce at tribal that he’s going to use it for one of the four original Malolo members, hoping that it’ll cause enough commotion that the original Naviti plan will either change, be stopped or some of their members will switch their votes to avoid being the one going home. Could be an exciting tribal!
8:48 p.m. – At tribal, tension between the two sides is high and Michael and Brendan direct their attention toward Bradley Kleihege, who they consider the leader of that side. They attempt to pull a few of the girls over by telling them that they’re at the bottom of the tribe. After that fails, Michael whips out his idol and tells the whole tribe that his idol from James Clement (from China) counts for two immunities and that they’re using the idol to save two people and vote out Bradley. It seems like the plan might be working and now some original Naviti are prepared to jump ship and vote with Michael’s side!
8:54 p.m. – With all votes cast, Michael decides to use the idol for… just Stephanie! Jeff reads the votes: Bradley, Bradley, Bradley, Bradley, Brendan, Brendan, Brendan, Brendan and… Brendan! The plan didn’t work and Michael chose the wrong person to save! The curse of James’ idols isn’t necessarily reversed. Whomp whomp.
