While the Grammys have consolidated a load of categories this year, the top four races remain the same: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.
Out in front for Album of the Year is Adele, whose "21" has sold more than 4 million copies in the United States alone. She could be derailed by Lady Gaga and her disc "Born This Way," which sold more than a million copies in its first week of release.
Adele also leads the races for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Her enormous hit "Rolling in the Deep" sat atop the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks and crossed over to multiple genre charts. Among her challengers are Katy Perry ("Firework") and Bruno Mars ("Grenade."
Best New Artist could be a battle between country crooners The Band Perry, hip-hop star Nicki Minaj and alternative artist Bon Iver.

A rock album almost always gets into the top category and this year was Foo Fighters' turn. They were previously cited in this category for "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" (2008). If they won, it would be the first victory by a rock album since U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" triumphed in 2006.

Like Adele, Bruno Mars is also contending in Song of the Year and Record of the Year. His "Grenade" hit #1 on the Hot 100. He also had successful singles in the album's "The Lazy Song" and last year's Grammy-winning "Just the Way You Are." He is an outside shot to win, however.
