Background: Rickman is an English actor who was born in London. He won a scholarship to Latymer Upper School, where he began his involvement with drama. He then attended the Chelsea College of Art and Design and The Royal College of Art. He opened a graphic design studio for three years before leaving to pursue an acting career.
Filmography: After several on-stage productions, he first gained fame with the BBC series "The Barchester Chronicles" in 1982. His film career has included "Die Hard," "The January Man," "Quigley Down Under," "Truly, Madly, Deeply," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Sense and Sensibility," "Michael Collins," "Dogma," "Galaxy Quest," "Love, Actually," "Alice in Wonderland," and the eight "Harry Potter" films. His TV career has included "Fallen Angels," "Rasputin," "Something the Lord Made," and "The Song of Lunch."
