Background: Yelchin was born in Leningrad in the former Soviet Union, the son of the third-ranked pairs figure-skating team in the USSR, but because of political oppression the family fled to the US not long after Anton's birth.
Filmography: Yelchin starred opposite Anthony Hopkins in the Stephen King film adaptation "Hearts in Atlantis" when he was just twelve years old. He followed that performance with leading roles in the films "House of D," "Alpha Dog," and "Charlie Bartlett," as well as appearances in the TV miniseries "Taken" and guest appearances on "NYPD Blue," "The Practice," and "Without a Trace." He played Hank Azaria's son on the Emmy-winning Showtime series "Huff." Recently, he appeared in the big-screen action films "Terminator: Salvation" and "Star Trek." This year, he will be seen in the Sundance Film Festival hit "Like Crazy" opposite Felicity Jones, and the upcoming remake of "Fright Night" with Colin Farrell and David Tennant.
