Background: Affleck was born in Berkeley, California, but his family moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, when he was young. When he was 8-years-old, he met 10-year-old Matt Damon, who would become his lifelong friend and frequent collaborator.

Filmography: His early film work includes "School Ties" (1992), "Dazed and Confused" (1993), "Mallrats" (1995), and "Chasing Amy" (1997). In 1997, he also co-wrote "Good Will Hunting" with his friend Matt Damon, winning them screenwriting Oscars. His subsequent films as an actor include "Shakespeare in Love" (1998), "Dogma" (1999), "Changing Lanes" (2002), "The Sum of All Fears" (2002), "Daredevil" (2003), "Hollywoodland" (2006), and "The Company Men" (2010). He received widespread critical derision for his films "Gigli" (2003) and "Surviving Christmas" (2004), but he gained acclaim as a director of the films "Gone Baby Gone" (2007), "The Town" (2010), and "Argo" (2012).
