Background: Lewin was born in Poland in 1946 and migrated to Australia with his family in 1949. He studied and practiced law, but left that career when he received a scholarship to the National Film School in England.
Filmography: He has worked as a director for film and television, his credits including "Georgia" (1988), "Paperback Romance" (1994), "Ally McBeal" (1999), and "Touched by an Angel" (2003). His latest film, the Sundance Film Festival favorite "The Surrogate" (2012) is his first feature film in 18 years.
