BACKGROUND: Born and raised Beyonce Giselle Knowles in Houston, Texas, Beyonce first rose to prominence in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B group Destiny’s Child before launching a successful solo career in 2003. Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, groomed Beyonce and her band mates for success at a young age. The group trained and performed locally until Knowles got Elektra Records to sign the group in 1995. After several successful albums with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce’s 2003 solo debut on Columbia Records catapulted her to superstardom. 

DISCOGRAPHY: All of Beyonce’s four solo albums have debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. 2003’s “Dangerously In Love” spawned four Top 5 singles including the #1 hits “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy.” 2006’s “B’Day” gave Beyonce her longest running #1 single; “Irreplaceable” spent 10 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 2008’s “I Am…Sasha Fierce” gave her another four Top 10 hits, including “Single Ladies,” which quickly became her signature song. Currently, 2011’s “4” has a new single, “Best Thing I Never Had,” climbing the charts.
