Background: Pitt was born in Oklahoma and joined the golf, tennis, and swimming teams in high school. He joined a fraternity in college where he performed in many fraternity shows. Two weeks before graduating, he left college to pursue acting in Los Angeles
Filmography: He has been acting for two decades, beginning with a breakthrough role as a charming hitchhiker in 1991's "Thelma & Louise" opposite Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon. Throughout the 1990s he starred in a variety of dramas: the fantasy films "Interview with the Vampire" and "12 Monkeys" (for which he was Oscar-nominated) as well as the period films "A River Runs Through It" and "Legends of the Fall." He starred in the earliest films by director David Fincher, "Seven" and "Fight Club." He would later reunite with Fincher for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in 2008, which earned him his second Oscar nomination.
In the 2000s, he appeared in the big-budget action films "Troy" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" as well as the "Ocean's Eleven" heist films by director Steven Soderbergh. He also appeared in "Babel" for director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and currently stars in Terence Malick's "The Tree of Life," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
