Background: Theron is a South African actress and model fluent in English and Afrikaans. She studied at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg.

Filmography: she made her first impression on film audiences in the laste 1990s with the films "2 Days in the Valley," "Mighty Joe Young," "The Devil's Advocate," and "Meet Joe Young." She appeared in Best Picture-nominee "The Cider House Rules" in 1999, but it wasn't until four years later that Theron herself was nominated -- and won -- an Oscar for her critically hailed performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the gritty drama "Monster." She received a second Oscar bid in 2005 for "North Country." In addition to her subsequent roles in "In the Valley of Elah," "The Road," and "Hancock," she had a multiple-episode story arc on the FOX comedy "Arrested Development." The year she will appear in Jason Reitman's film "Young Adult."
