Background: Hinds is an Irish actor born in Belfast. He was an Irish dancer in his youth and studied law at Queen's University, but left to pursue acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Filmography: He performed frequently in stage productions in Ireland and in the United States, notably in Patrick Marber's Tony-nominated play "Closer." On film, Hinds has developed a successful career as a character actor. In the last decade he has appeared in the films, "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life," "Veronica Guerin," "The Phanton of the Opera," Steven Spielberg's "Munich," Sam Mendes's "Road to Perdition," and Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood." On TV, he played Julius Caesar in HBO's "Rome."
