Background: Cox is an American actress who was born in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from Mountain Brook High School, she attended Mount Vernon College for a short while before deciding to pursue a career in modeling and acting.
Filmography: She first gained notice by appearing in the Bruce Springsteen music video "Dancing in the Dark" in 1984. Her early film roles included "Masters of the Universe" and "Cocoon: The Return" before recurring roles on the TV series "Misfits of Science" and "Family Ties." Other films in her career have included "Mr. Destiny," "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "Scream," "The Runner," and "3000 Miles to Graceland." Her biggest role has been as Monica Geller on the NBC comedy series "Friends" from 1994 to 2004. She has also starred in the series "Dirt" and "Cougar Town."
